WhatsApp or National Security?

WhatsApp

Few days back WhatsApp, the top messaging platform around the globe has enabled the end-to-end encryption. Because of this many countries are trying to disable the method because it is not safe for the nation. Even India got the same issues, already a petition has placed against this.

WhatsApp is everybody's favourite now. Due to it's wicked fastness in delivering the messages across the world and also the calling feature. Many other apps are dominated by WhatsApp because of the speed and reliability of it. It is getting updated time to time and the latest features include sharing of PDF documents. This made office works easy and everyone has the WhatsApp who has the smartphone. And all this is for free, no hidden costs are there.

When coming to the latest version, the introduction of end-to-end encryption is seen. What is this end-to-end encryption? Let's see.

End-to-end encryption :

To say in our words not technically, this is nothing but a privacy. Only the two persons are able to get back their chat messages if needed in the future. Even the WhatsApp servers won't store any kind of traces of the messages.

There are no keys to the messages with WhatsApp servers. This is a good news in terms of personal preference, but when coming to the national security this is the biggest security breach. Because even the government security officials can't do anything to retrieve the messages from a person who involved in any chat during any criminal investigation etc. According to our Indian judicial system this is a crime. This is the national security threat.

Because nobody will come to know if the two terrorists plan through the chat.

This encryption is good for a common citizen as he thinks that this is protecting his privacy. But in the sight of law, they're going to miss their shot at stopping the trouble.

WhatsApp is deeply connected to us all, even the app saved many lives with the messaging service during any disasters. And it provided an environment of soft working procedure in government sectors.

WhatsApp In India

Now the situation seems like we all are here with two options. Either to stop using WhatsApp or use it and breach the security.

There is also a news that many countries are reaching the WhatsApp to talk about this. In the view of WhatsApp developers, this end-to-end encryption is done to provide their users a safe place for chatting. And this may disobey the law, but for a common WhatsApp user it's a good thing.

We are now provided an option whether to stand with the app or delete it and help the nation. We are helpless once any country reacts highly and bans the app then those people are out of WhatsApp. And we are not sure if the WhatsApp developers team going to step back and disable the encryption. Whatever may happen, we are the witness of an amazing app, this is the revolution of messaging and everybody will agree with the statement.

For now, let's hope for good that we may not lose our friends who are in other countries. There are still other messaging apps out there, but I am pretty sure they won't be the same as WhatsApp.
