Why is Lent only 40 days? What is the significance of number 40 in the Bible and in a month plus 10 days, what we can do to our attitudes?
Today we’ll see why the number 40 is important and in 40 days what we can do.
In 40 days one can change their attitude and apply the principles to their lives, 40 days can change the mindset of a person and if we can try hard, it is possible to divert our thoughts from bad to good. Those energies of the negative ideas are used for the fruitful purposes in investing in the good.
If we pray for 40 days continually and with a dedicated mindset, anything is going to be possible in our lives.
In the Holy Bible, we have the number 40 and the importance of it. Let’s look them below.
· The Flood waters washed away the sin of the world over a period of 40 days
“For in seven days I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground” Genesis 7;4
· On two occasions, Moses met with God on Mt. Sinai for 40 days, fasting and intensely praying 34:28; Deuteronomy 9:18,25).
“Moses entered the cloud and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights” Exodus 24:18
“So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments” Exodus 34:28
· Angels delivered a special meal to Elijah which strengthened him for a 40-day journey into the wilderness to meet God at Mt. Sinai.
“And he arose and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God.” 1 Kings 19:8
· God gave Nineveh 40 days to repent of their sins
“Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he called out, “yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown” Jonah 3:4
· Jesus fasted 40 days in the wilderness during which he was tempted by Satan.
“And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry” Matthew 4:2
“And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.” Mark 1:13
“And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil and he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. Mark 4:1-2
· Jesus remained on earth for 40 days after his resurrection, speaking to his disciples about the kingdom of God, culminating in his ascension to heaven.
“He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God” Acts 1:3

Prayer:
Oh! Father presiding on the Holy thorn in the Heaven, we all gather here and pray to you. Thank you, Jesus, for allowing us to enter into a new day and providing us with all the necessary things today. We pray for those who are still in darkness and wandering in the stone age, finding for a better life and peace, Lord, please remember them and make them realize and repent from their sinful lives, we also pray for the deliverance of the darkest forces which are ruling us till today.
Our Father, help us and teach us to walk in your path. In the Holy name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen!
