Practicing lent or following it is an important thing from the begging of the day 1 of this season. We make ‘n’ number of commitments and more and more promises. We give up our daily habits like avoiding some kinds of food for 40 days and giving up watching our favorite shows and so on.
Even in the past, I made such covenants with God and in the end I failed in following them, since then I left it all. Now, am with the faith and my mind focusing on the God and still somewhere I gets easily distracted, because am living in this world which is full of disturbances.
It’s not how many covenants we are making with God, it’s not about their number, but all about how many we are keeping up with. God will never abandon us, he won’t leave us all alone even if we fall away from the covenants we made. We always has a second chance in his divine presence.
In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye.
Deuteronomy 32:10
We always feel that if we make such promises, we grab the attention of the Lord God, but it’s always false, God is always there watching over us.
When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
Psalms 34:17
Why lent is important in our lives is it’ll restore our faith and sets us back on the track of our spiritual life.
It is important because it’ll remind us of the pain Jesus has undergone and the list of his trials and more.
There will be more days yet to come and we need to hold on to the faith we had during the test times.
Lent is important because of the message it gives us, there might be ups and downs in our lives, but we have hope in Christ that he will rise us from these deadly problems to life again, identical to his resurrection.
Lent is not only about reminding the pain, it also conveys a message about victory over death and the other evil things.
If we persevere on Jesus, like Jesus did during his crucifixion, we will receive the gift from the Lord, which is an everlasting life.
Importance of lent is to renew our faith and continuously remind us of the hope we have and the victory we are going to take after facing lots of troubles. I would like to end the second day lent post with the following verse and then a prayer.
I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.
Psalms 40:1-3
Prayer:
Holy Father in Heaven, here we are today, successfully completing the second day of lent with your grace. We are empty without you Lord and we always need your support to stand against the storms of life and day to day challenges. Lord, you’ve assisted us like a father and hence we are calling you father, you already knew everything about us and you’ll provide us everything we ask in your name. Lord, please forgive us if we are asking anything that which is not in your will. Guide us through these lent days and help us to stand firm in the covenants we made with you.
In the Holy name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen!
